MOUNTAIN BIKING: Barrel Ride

← UT SANTA CLARA RIVER PINE VALLEY UT Single Tracks →

Description

This is a technical trail that weaves up and down cliffs through the desert. It is the funnest way to do ride the race course. At the bottom of the trail, you can go left and connect to the race course, or go right and connect next to the water tower that starts the green valley loop. If you want a really tech section, when you turn right, go down the hill andturn left down a wash. That part is a blast. All three ways can take you to where you parked.

Directions

Take the Bluff Street I-15 exit in St. George and turn west. Immediately turn south (left) on Hilton Drive. Go past the golf course and turn right when you reach Dixie Drive. Turn left at the sign for Green Valley Spa. Drive past the spa onto dirt at the end of the road. Turn right at the top of the mesa, then immediately left to drive down into the deep valley. Park in the open area in the valley bottom. From here, ride the first dirt road that heads to the right. follow the road, it will climb up a small hill, flatten out, then down the other side, on the left hand side, there is a piece of singletrack, start there. This is the Race Course, ride this trail anyway you want to the top of the hill ( I recommend going up the rock washes), it will connect to a dirt road towards the top. Ride up the dirt road past a steep jeep road that goes down the other side to the right. Continue up the road and you will pass two other pieces of singletrack, they are part of the race course, the second is marked with rocks and is the downhill section. Go 50ft or so past this and you will see singletrack to the left, generally marked with a line of rocks. If this is confusing, run into Red Rock Bicycle, and nab a map.
